Cecile was born in 1670 in Port Royal, l'Acadie, Nova Scotia.  Cecile's father was Charles Mellanson dit La Ramee and her mother is Marie Dugas.  Her paternal grandparents were Pierre dit LaVerdure and Priscilla Mallinson. She has five brothers and eight sisters, named Charles, Ambroise, Pierre, Claude, Jean, Marie, Marguerite, Anne Marie, Françoise, Isabelle Elise, Marie Madeleine, Marie and Marguerite Madeleine.  She is the fourth oldest of the fourteen children.
