Paul Olivier was born in 1762 in Snow Hill, Worcester, Maryland.  Paul Olivier's father was Alexandre Miquoin Melanson and his mother was Marie Osite Hebert.  His paternal grandparents were Jean Dominique Melanson and Marie Marguerite Dugas; his maternal grandfather was Jacques Hebert and his maternal grandmother is Marguerite Landry. He had five brothers and a sister, named Jean, Pierre Jacques (Santiago), Joseph (Jose), Etienne, Charles and Madeleine Marie.  He was the second youngest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 85 on June 9th, 1847 in St. James Parish, La..  He was buried on June 10th, 1847 in St. Michael Church, Convent, La..
